AI Strategy

Decide what to automate before you pay to build it

Most failed AI projects were the wrong project. We map how work actually moves through your company, size what automation would save, and hand you a roadmap that names the workflows worth building and the ones to leave alone.

What is included

Process mapping

We follow real work end to end, including the spreadsheets and the messages nobody documents, because that is where the hours actually go.

Opportunity sizing

Each candidate gets an estimate of hours saved, error rate today, and what it would cost to build and run, so the ranking survives scrutiny.

Build, buy or leave it

Some workflows are cheaper as software you already own, and some should stay human. The report says which, in writing.

Sequenced roadmap

A phased plan with dependencies, owners and the checkpoint after each phase where continuing is a decision rather than momentum.

Example output

An extract from the opportunity register we hand over.

rank workflow hrs/mo error approach verdict
1 invoice intake 120 4% n8n flow build - phase 1
2 tier-1 support triage 90 9% agent + human build - phase 2
3 contract lookup 60 n/a RAG build - phase 3
4 vendor onboarding 35 2% existing ERP configure, do not build
5 pricing exceptions 20 11% judgement call keep human

note ranks 1-3 carry the roadmap. rank 5 is listed so it stops
being raised as an automation candidate every quarter.

Illustrative example, not a real client register.

Common questions

What is AI strategy consulting and why would we need it?

It is the work of deciding what to automate before paying to build it: following how work actually moves through the company, estimating what each candidate would save, and ranking them. Most failed AI projects were not badly built, they were the wrong project, and that is a cheaper mistake to catch on paper.

How long does a strategy engagement take?

Three to five weeks for a mid-sized company, depending on how many teams the work crosses and how much of the process is undocumented. It ends with a decision, not an open-ended retainer.

What do we get at the end?

A process map of the work as it is done today, an opportunity register with hours, error rates and estimated build and run costs per candidate, a build-buy-or-leave-it verdict for each one, and a sequenced roadmap with owners and a checkpoint after every phase.

Do we need technical expertise in-house to benefit from it?

No. The people we need are the ones who do the work and the ones who own the budget. The roadmap is written so a non-technical leadership team can act on it, with or without us doing the build.

Start with the map, not the build

A short engagement that ends in a document you can act on with us or without us.
